• Creator's Oddball:
  • Marek Utkin is an industrial design engineer and known popularizer of cycling, with almost all his writing being about the technical and recreational aspects of bicycles. As some inquisitive person has counted, the word "bicycle" appears once in this particular book. And there are none in the fantasy world.
  • At least at the time of printing, Prószyński i S-Ka publishing house was getting out of fantastic literature, or at least Polish one (they've just signed a big deal for Discworld).
• No Export for You: It was published in Polish in 2002 and has not been translated into any other language since.
• One-Book Author: It is the only novel ever written by Marek Utkin, and short of a small handful of short stories, also the only fiction he has ever created.
• Troubled Production: Once Utkin wrote the book, he spent almost three years going from publisher to publisher to get it into print. Somehow, he ultimately convinced Prószyński i S-Ka publishing house to pick up his book, even if they were in the middle of rebranding and had just imposed a strict policy of "no Polish fantasy" around the same time.
