  • Bad Export for You: As with the New Order compilation of the same name, cassette releases in many countries outside the U.K. lacked the "Appendix" section, including in the U.S.
  • Multi-Disc Work: On its 2015 double-LP reissue.
  • Reality Subtext: In "Love Will Tear Us Apart", the line "yet there's a taste in my mouth as desperation takes hold" is likely a reference to Ian Curtis' epilepsy. People with epilepsy often report "auras" prior to a seizure, which can include strange tastes in the mouth. "She's Lost Control" was also inspired by Ian's own experiences with epilepsy.
  • Referenced by...: "Dead Souls" would later receive a popular cover by Nine Inch Nails for the soundtrack to The Crow (1994). "Love Will Tear Us Apart" has also been covered frequently, with versions by Paul Young and folk singer June Tabor, among others.
