Trivia / Star Trek Deep Space Nine S05E16 "Dr. Bashir, I Presume"

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Bashir with the LMH, and Zimmerman with the EMH.
  • One-Book Author: This is Fadwa El Guindi's (Amsha Bashir) only acting credit — because outside of this, she is very much not a One-Book Author. She's a noteworthy anthropologist who quipped "I'm an anthropologist, not an actress!" Her only acting credit prior to this was filling in for the lead actress in a play she directed — that happened to be attended by assistant casting director Ron Surma. The unusual casting was necessary in part because there were very few middle-aged Middle Eastern actresses at the time in Hollywood.
  • What Could Have Been: In the original script, Bashir's secret isn't exposed. Alexander Siddig, who was already angry about the script (because he would have played Bashir differently if the secret had existed from the beginning), insisted that it be revealed to everyone.
