- Tom Everett Scott was originally cast as Gavin, and even filmed the pilot episode. But the show's creators felt that he came across as too laid-back and not neurotic enough. The part was re-cast with Elon Gold, and the pilot had to be refilmed just a few weeks before it was set to air.
- Pamela Adlon was offered the role of Katrina, but turned it down to appear in Lucky Louie.
