• Cast the Expert: Ricky Jay, a master card manipulator, plays Vignetti, an expert on cons who is also a gifted card manipulator.
• Dawson Casting: In the third season, Carly is 17 years old and still in high school, but the actress was 27 by the time it aired.
• Mid-Development Genre Shift: The first episode, produced by Cranston and David Shore for CBS suggest a procedural show with lighter serialization. Once Graham Yost took over, the show became a lot more serialized.
• Playing Against Type: Jacob Pitts. After playing an unflappable veteran turned US Marshal in Justified, he here plays a slimy small-town lawyer who faints at the sight of blood.
• Production Posse: Shares a showrunner, a lot of writers and directors and a handful of actors with Justified.
• Troubled Production: Show creator David Shore left the project after the pilot, when it was retooled into a more serialized format. He was replaced by Graham Yost as executive producer and showrunner, who left after season 2 and was replaced by Blake Masters. The show was cancelled after season 3, though very few Amazon shows make it past three seasons anyway.
