Trivia / Sade

  • Colbert Bump: Starting from 2019, Sade experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to Formula One driver Carlos Sainz Jr.'s habit of singing "Smooth Operator" during races.
  • Development Hell:
    • Subverted. The gaps between albums get longer with each new release, but Sade has gone on record saying that they will only record when they feel they have something to say. Only one year (2009) out of the ten between Lovers Rock (2000) and Soldier of Love (2010) was used for recording the latter.
    • This is a common trend among Sophisti-Pop bands (Simply Red aside). The Blue Nile can take a long as 8 years to record an album. Though BN's difference is the fact that their gaps are spent with studio arguments, experimentation, scrapping, rewriting, and taking forever to produce a work.
  • Reclusive Artist: Sade Adu keeps her entire personal life separate from her celebrity. She apparently took care of aging family members and had her house rebuilt after it burnt down between the releases of Love Deluxe and Lovers Rock.
