• Creator Backlash: Nami has since deleted both games from her itch.io profile because the titular protagonist and her partner Romance Cop were based loosely on a relationship she was going through at the time, only to discover that her partner, Yoyo, was 14 years old when Nami was in her early 20s, causing her to break up with him. After Yoyo came public with allegations that Nami groomed him during their relationship, this became an even greater shame for Nami, who as part of her response stated that she regrets ever making either product.
• Creator Couple: Nami and her then-boyfriend Yoyo co-wrote both games, and the two main characters, Romance Detective and Romance Cop, are based on the two of them. Their breakup caused the development of Romance Detective 2 to screech to a halt, before ultimately being released in an incomplete state.
• Troubled Production: Romance Detective 2 fell into limbo because both games were dedicated to Nami's then-boyfriend, who was co-writer for both games and who she broke up with in 2015 after finding out that he was younger than 18 by a wide margin; during the development period of RD2; this made it very difficult for her to continue working on the game. This is explained when opening up the game for the first time.
