Trivia / Riders Radio Theater

Go To

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: As the cast is entirely male, any female supporting character is usually one of the Riders doing falsetto. And usually not particularly convincingly.
  • Out of Order: Whoever runs the official Soundcloud and iTunes pages for Riders Radio occasionally messes up the episode release order. The most recent example being the first episode of the "Phantom of The Valley" story was released before the "Return To The Yukon" serial (which chronologically takes place before "Phantom").
  • The Pete Best: Riders In The Sky (the band) has two Pete Best equivalents, but the one important to Riders Radio Theater is Tommy Goldsmith. Goldsmith came up with the idea of Riders Radio Theater in 1978 while he was with the band. When Riders Radio Theater became an actual show, he was credited as the creator... once. At the very end of the first episode, it is mentioned that the show was created by "Tommy Goldsmith and Riders In The Sky". He was never mentioned again.
  • Rereleased for Free: An episode of the series is re released every Tuesday for free on the official Soundcloud and iTunes pages beginning in 2016.
  • Sequel in Another Medium: When the series was canceled in 1995, Riders Radio Theater found new life as series of television specials from 1995 to 1996.
  • Un-Canceled: When WPLN chose not finance Riders Radio Theater after the first 52 episodes, WVXU picked up the show in 1989.
  • Written by Cast Member: All the episodes were written by Fred LaBour (AKA Too Slim) and Steve Arwood (Texas Bix Bender).
