  • The Danza: Of a sort: Rob Townsend voices Captain Robert Witterel.
  • He Also Did: Nikita Ordynskiy, the director of the film adaptation of Papers, Please, another Lucas Pope game, also voices Russian seaman Aleksei Toporov in this game.
  • The Other Darrin: If you go in chronological order, Leonid Volkov was voiced by Russian-speaker Vadim Proskryakov in Chapter II, before being voiced by English-speaker Brent Mukai for the rest of the game, starting with Chapter VI and ending with Chapter IX.

  • Real-Life Relative: Since First Mate William Hoscut and Abigail Hoscut Witterel are siblings, it's pretty obvious that their voice actors, James and Debbie McCreadie, are related to each other.
  • Talking to Himself:
    • Callan McAuliffe voices Third Mate's Steward Roderick Anderson and Midshipmen Peter Milroy and Thomas Lanke.
    • James McCreadie voices the Boat Paller, First Mate William Hoscut, and Topman Timothy Butement.
    • Joshua Nicholson voices Butcher Emil O'Farrell and Second Mate's Steward Samuel Galligan.
    • Ryan Laughton voices Cook Thomas Sefton and Fourth Mate John Davies.
    • Ian Russell voices John Naples and Patrick O'Hagan.
    • Debbie McCreadie voices the female Investigator and Abigail Hoscut Witterel.
  • Word of God:
    • The Obra Dinn is modeled on the real-life HMS Leopard, though scaled down in size, weight, and crew number (the HMS Leopard had 350 men in its crew, not 51). It wasn't designed to be a perfect copy, but with many variations and styles, externally and internally, taken from other ships and ship-types of that era.

    • The ship originally departed from London and added cargo in Falmouth. Therefore, the ship is really underway when the first death occurs. This bears up when putting the clues together, as the first picture the artist drew with everyone aboard was titled "Under Way", yet the first death happened while loading cargo, which would only happen if the cargo were loaded after the ship set sail.
