Trivia / Repton

Go To

  • Dueling Works: With Boulder Dash. Repton's creator, Tim Tyler, was inspired by reading a description of Boulder Dash, but had never actually played the game.
  • Saved from Development Hell:
    • Repton: The Lost Realms, programmed in 1988, was forgotten and unknown to the community until a copy was rediscovered in 2008. It was then reprogrammed with the addition of new levels, and finally released in 2010, even though by then the BBC Micro was dead except for retro-computing communities.
    • After Repton Spectacular (a 2006 Expansion Pack containing some levels for each of the three PC games), Superior planned another similar expansion, Repton Extravaganza. This was almost complete as early as 2008, but never materialised. However, the Repton 1 levels that were planned for Extravaganza were released in 2014 and the Repton 2 levels in 2018.
  • Sequel Gap:
    • After EGO: Repton 4 (1992) there were no new Repton releases of any kind until the PC remake of Repton 1 (2003)note  — a gap of 9 years.
    • Repton: The Lost Realms (2010) is a direct sequel to Repton 3 (1986) — 24 years.
