  • Acclaimed Flop: The album received good marks from most critics, but was a commercial failure upon release, sowing the seeds of the band tension that would culminate in Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh leaving the Human League in 1980. It did accumulate enough sales from the Mk. I lineup's cult following over time to result in a gold certification from the BPI in 1988, but even that's a world away from Dare's multiple platinum certifications around the world.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The LP mix of the album has only scarcely been reissued since 1988, when Virgin Records put together a modified version of the album for CD releases that removes many of the found audio interludes and makes a few other touch-ups. The 2017 Japanese CD would mark the first time the LP version of the album became available on a digital format.
  • Late Export for You: Unlike Travelogue, which got a US release right away, Reproduction didn't officially reach American shores until a 1988 LP and cassette reissue by Virgin Records (distributed by Atlantic Records rather than the band's US label at the time, A&M Records). Furthermore, it didn't come out on CD in the region until 2003 as part of the band's remastering campaign that year.
