In fact he hadn't been in the director's chair for 27 years, with the last title he directed being Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (another game about theater) back in 1997.
Sequel Gap: While not a direct sequel, the game did release a good 18 years after Peach’s first starring role in 2005’s Super Princess Peach.
