- Urban Legend of Zelda: During the early days of the game, an urban legend circulated that the player's Pou can have children after reaching a certain high level. It could be that the players misinterpreted Pou's poop as a child.
- Popularized in the later half of The New '10s and The New '20s is another urban legend involving a "killer potion" which can be given to the usually immortal Pou to kill it. It has been popularized by this Spanish-language video where a player attempts to kill Pou with said poison, only for Pou to stalk the player's house and kill him.
