  • Box Office Bomb: Budget: unknown, Gross: $5,624,282.
  • Creator Killer: The failure of this film, along with the behind-the-scenes drama on his following film Takedown, led to director Joe Chappelle being relegated to direct-to-video movies and TV output for twenty years until the release of An Acceptable Loss in 2018.
  • Dawson Casting: Lisa's age is never specified in the movie (she's 14 in the novel) but is implied to be at least 17 or 18 years old. She was played by Rose McGowan who was 25 when the movie was made.
  • Friendship on the Set: Rose McGowan described Peter O'Toole as one of her favourite co-stars and jokingly called him "one of the great loves of my life". She recalls going with him to leave his hand and footprints outside Mann's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, and jokes that he said "darling let's run away together and start a scandal."
  • God-Created Canon Foreigner: Koontz wrote the script, meaning it was his decision to add the characters of Steve Shanning (a Composite Character of the various deputies from the book, chiefly Tal Whitman, Frank Autry and Jake Johnson) and the FBI agents Wilson and Hawthorne (who take the place of publicist Burt Sandler and to a lesser extent Project Skywatch members Major Isley and Captain Arkham).
  • What Could Have Been: An adaptation was first greenlit back in the 80s, by New World Pictures, but it had to be shelved when they filed for bankruptcy.
