Trivia / PAYDAY 3

Go To

  • Ascended Fanfic: The general concept of the Grenadier (a new special enemy that uses tear gas grenades as an active part of their arsenal rather than as part of map setpieces) originated from them featuring in a number of PAYDAY 2's largest overhaul mods, in particular Restoration Mod (which first introduced the unit).
  • Author's Saving Throw: On January 17, 2024, Starbreeze announced that they put together a "strike team of veteran developers" to create a plan on bringing the game up to snuff in response to many players being unsatisfied with the current state of things. They revealed this plan a month later as Operation Medic Bag, releasing a roadmap of planned improvements for the year and initial focuses. This includes Solo and Offline modes, bringing back the Crime.Net server browser, replacing the challenge-based progression system, revamping the UI, new content, an unready button, and more.
  • Demand Overload: The game's servers suffered frequent outages on launch, which due to the game being always-online, rendered it unplayable for many.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Due to Ulf Andersson leaving OVERKILL Software in 2014, Wolf is now voiced by actor Nicklas Berglund (who did various alien vocals for Biomutant and provides the English dub for Clark in Clark).
    • The Butcher has also changed voice actress from Mira Furlan, who unfortunately passed away in 2021. Jelena Gavrilović now plays the role.
  • Pre-Order Bonus: Pre-ordering any version got you the Venomous Verdigris Mask, Cotton Stripes Gloves and Obsidian Glitz Suitnote . Pre-ordering the Silver or Gold digital versions let you begin playing three days before everybody else.
  • Role Reprise:
    • Dallas, Hoxton, and Chains are voiced by Simon Kerr, Pete Gold, and Damion Poitier, respectively, as they were in PAYDAY 2.
    • Later on, additional returning cast members are confirmed for Joy (Siu-see Hung), Vlad (Ilia Volok), Shayu (Elizabeth Chan), Keegan (Nathan Osgood), and Locke (Ian Russell).
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: Among the reasons the developers gave as to why they chose to make the game online only, like stopping the console versions from becoming very outdated without any hope of being caught upnote , they partially cited the rampant cheating plaguing the previous game.
