Trivia / One Piece: Land of Wano Arc

• Milestone Celebration:
  • This arc hosted the 1,000th chapter of the series, kicking off the 2021 year to boot. The events in the chapter have Luffy, along with Zoro, Eustass Kid, Killer and Trafalgar Law confronting Kaido and Big Mom, with Luffy kickstarting his second confrontation, and subsequently the climax of the arc, with Kaido by punching him with a new Gear 3 move, Gum Gum Red Roc ^note A "Roc" being mythical bird that was said to devour dragons, both knocking him down, actually hurting him and drawing first blood.
  • Likewise the arc hosted the 1,000th episode of the anime several months later. The anime celebrated with a specialized opening of "We Are" with the updated ship and crew as well as Thanking the Viewer at the end of the episode.
• Out of Order: A minor example. In the manga, the first chapter of the arc, 909, showed Cat Viper's conversation with Marco, then jumped to our first glimpse of the Wano Country to show what Zoro's half of the Straw Hats was up to there. Chapter 910 then went back to Luffy's group, with them arriving at Wano and getting caught in a whirlpool. The anime opted to wait to reveal the first look at Wano until after Luffy's group arrived, and thus adapted chapter 910 (to episode 891) before the second half of Chapter 909 (which became episode 892).^note This also allowed advertisements for the anime to claim that it would be entering Wano "in July", since episode 892, which aired July 7, 2019, was the first episode to actually show the Wano country itself...even though the anime began adapting content considered to be part of the Wano arc (in episodes 890 and 891) the previous two weeks, which were in June.
• What Could Have Been: According to Oda, in SBS 98, the Animal Kingdom Pirates Card Game Theme Naming is a holdover from an earlier draft of the Wano Arc where Doflamingo, captain of a crew with it's own Card game Theme Naming, originally played the role of a supporting antagonist.
