Trivia / Muppet Monster Adventure

Go To

  • Saved from Development Hell: The plot of the game was originally conceived by Muppet creatives Kirk Thatcher and Jim Lewis several years prior for a TV special or feature film. The project never happened, but the two were asked if they would allow their script to be used for a video game instead.
  • Similarly Named Works: Jerry Nelson, as Robin, sings the game's theme song, "I Will Survive." It's not the classic disco song, but it's a Determinator song just like Gloria Gaynor's is.
  • Spiritual Successor: Its gameplay is very reminiscent of Spyro the Dragon, although it came from a different developer. Features of the Playstation trilogy were split between this and Treasure Planet:
    • Evil Energy is the equivalent of gems.
    • Muppet Tokens are the equivalent of trapped dragons, orbs and eggs.
    • Robin has a "fire breath" attack (power glove) and a "charge" attack (spinning, which is also a Shout-Out to Crash Bandicoot) and enemies and containers which can be defeated by either of them or both.
    • The ballistic chicken is the equivalent of superflame. Unlike metal chests and vases in the Spyro trilogy, skull chests are inmune to it. Shielded enemies aren't, however.
    • Rizzo is the equivalent of egg thieves.
    • Robin can get the abilities to glide, climb and dive. Spyro has the first one by default and learns the other two by paying Moneybags. Robin learns the three of them from amulets.
