General Trivia

All of Morbid Angel's albums (both studio and live) have a title that begins with the corresponding letter of the alphabet - for example, Altairs of Madness, their first album, begins with the first letter of the alphabet, "A". Entangled in Chaos and Juvenilia, the band's two live albums, account for the letters E and J respectively.

Trope-related Trivia

  • Creative Differences: The reason why Dave was let go of in 2015. By his own admission, he and Trey both agreed that they couldn't really see eye-to-eye and that Dave leaving was for the better. While Trey is proud of their work together, he has made it clear that he isn't interested in dwelling on the past and would rather move forward.
  • Creator Backlash: Pete has made it clear that he is not a fan of how I turned out. Semi-subverted in that he was only involved with a couple of the songs on the album; the rest were written by either Trey, Vincent, or Thor. Trey has also indicated a desire to turn his back on the album, and an interviewer who asked about it was straight-up told that it wasn't a topic that was going to be discussed and was then provided with a deliberately nonsensical secondary answer.
  • Development Hell: Illud Divinum Insanus took eight years to complete, and had at least two other tentative titles during that time.
  • Missing Episode: Abominations of Desolation was meant to be their debut album, but it went unreleased due to both the band being unsatisfied with the final product and Mike Browning leaving the band under acrimonious circumstances. It was eventually released in 1991 after Blessed Are the Sick.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Erik Rutan, Steve Tucker, Thor Myrhen, Tim Yeung, and Scott Fuller.
  • Referenced by...: Garou: Mark of the Wolves: Freeman has a special move named named Morbid Angel.
  • What Could Have Been: After Rutan left for the final time in 2006, auditions were held to fill his spot. While Thor wound up being the winner, there were several very promising runner-ups, namely Florian Magnus "Morean" Maier (Noneuclid, Dark Fortress, Alkaloid) and Waclaw "Vogg" Kieltyka.
