• Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Some online guides falsely claim that the corked well puzzle requires, of all things, knowledge of Morse code.^note A possible reason for this is the puzzle's second step, where the player must turn a dial in a particular sequence, but the sequence is all but spelled out by a gleaming gem right above the dial.
• Promoted Fanboy:
  • Game Atelier, the team behind the game, are big fans of the series. The game originally was supposed to be a mere spiritual successor, until it was noticed by Ryuichi Nishizawa and promoted to an actual sequel.
  • Ollie the musician is based on YouTuber and fan of the series Banjo Guy Ollie. Sure enough, his human form in the closing cutscene looks exactly like the real-life Banjo Guy Ollie.
• Schedule Slip: Originally aimed for a 2017 release, said date was pushed back to 2018.
• What Could Have Been: It was originally going to be an In Name Only sequel to The Flying Hamster, before it became what it is.
• Working Title: The game used to be called Monster Boy and the Wizard of Booze. The developers changed the title to Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom because of negative feedback.
