- Promoted Fanboy: Game Atelier, the team behind the game, are big fans of the series. The game originally was supposed to be a mere spiritual successor, until it was noticed by Ryuichi Nishizawa and promoted to an actual sequel.

- What Could Have Been: It was originally going to be an In Name Only sequel to The Flying Hamster, before it became what it is.
- Working Title: The game used to be called Monster Boy and the Wizard of Booze. The developers changed the title to Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom because of negative feedback.
