- Acting for Two: Stephanie Leonidas is Helena and the Dark Princess. Rob Brydon is Morris Campbell and the Prime Minister. Gina McKee is Joanne Campbell, the White Queen, and the Dark Queen. Jason Barry is Valentine and his equivalent in the human world.
- Dawson Casting: The two main leads are supposed to be teenagers. Helen was played by 21 year old Stephanie Leonidas, and she played a 15-year-old. However, Valentine was played by 33 year old Jason Barry, and despite the portrayal, his age made him appear to be in his mid-twenties at earliest, making the sexual tension of the finale a bit uncomfortable for viewers.
- Development Hell: Supposedly there were plans for a prequel in manga form that has yet to be published.
- What Could Have Been:
- Before it was decided that the Prime Minister of the White City should also be Helena's dad, they wanted to get David Bowie to do it, as an Actor Allusion to Labyrinth. Sadly, there were scheduling conflicts.
- Neil mentioned once he wanted to show Helena in school, but Dean vetoed that. Dean revealed that to do that, they'd need to hire a bunch of child actors and get wranglers, which would go past the budget.
