  • Colbert Bump:
    • For Mario Party DS itself. At the time of its release, it was a largely forgotten entry in the Mario Party series - having a decent enough reputation at the time of its release, but generally left behind as a result of the numerous console releases since then - but after the popularity of this video, quite a few people revisited it, leading it to be Vindicated by History — especially among its contemporaries in the series.
    • Interest in MC Ballyhoo from Mario Party 8 also increased when the series debuted DJ Hallyboo, his deranged Knight Templar cousin.
  • Follow the Leader: The popularity of this series, especially the original video, has of course inspired countless copycats, with countless videos being made showcasing theoretical anti-piracy measures for numerous other games. Of course, the quality, authenticity, and creepiness of these videos tend to vary wildly. Some notable, well-made examples include Kin_Tamashii's series on the Mario & Luigi games, micah's video on Tomodachi Life, Anthcny's AP screens (the majority of them being Animal Crossing: New Leaf-related), and two videos by Monochrome Kirby on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Juno Songs did a vocal cover of "Host Hoedown." This led to him being cast as the voice of the real DJ Hallyboo in the finale video, as well as in Friday Night Funkin': Mario's Madness, which features DJ Hallyboo as an opponent.
  • What Could Have Been: During his Mario Party DS playthrough, Joey mentioned a scrapped video idea called "Bowser Quits", which shows the intro to "Bowser's Block Party", except Bowser had a Hawaiian shirt and suitcase, and the dialogue is him saying he can't fight you since he isn't being paid anymore, and he then jumps into the lava.
