Trivia / Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!:
    • This is the only game where Daisy says (or rather loudly shouts) "HI, I'M DAISY!" frequently. However, there are people who will lead you to believe that Daisy says this line in every single game she appears in...when she simply doesn't. The reason the line is infamous and memorable is not because she says it in every game, but because Daisy says it a lot in this game specifically. Daisy says the line whenever you switch drivers and when she finishes a race in first place, both of which are events that are logically going to happen frequently, and so the line come off as quite repetitive, and sticks in peoples' heads.
    • While Waluigi does say "Waluigi time!" in this game, it's not preceded by "Too bad." as Brawl in the Family would lead you to believe.
  • Blooper: For some reason, the "L" on Luigi's hat is backwards on the boxart and any art derived from it, including the artwork minus the game details, the manual, and the Nintendo Power Player's Guide.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: The Prima official strategy guide claims that Diddy Kong and Bowser Jr. have no karts (their karts are the Barrel Train and Bill Blaster respectively) and calls many karts by inaccurate names such as calling the Goo-Goo Buggy the "Mario Buggy" and the Wario Car "Wario's Jalopy". It also calls Daisy Peach's cousin.
  • Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Elimine of the Eight Legends is a very unusual one, as the bonus disc bundled with preordered copies of Double Dash outside of Japan was, at the time, the only piece of media where she actually made an appearance at all. Nearly 19 years later, she would finally appear in a Fire Emblem game via Heroes, though she has yet to appear in any game set on the continent of Elibe despite her church having a prominent role in The Binding Blade.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: There are rumors that Sonic and Tails were intended to appear in this game, but for whatever reason, the plans never materialized. The source of an interview with Miyamoto stating Sonic could appear can be found here. However, there was never a mention of Tails, and as the interview was done before the duo mechanic was revealed, it's possible this interview was in a much earlier phase of development. The Tails inclusion seems to be a complete fabrication to match the game's team mechanic.
  • What Could Have Been: A demo for the game contains assets for a Reverse Cup consisting of Yoshi Circuit, Dino Dino Jungle, Peach Beach, and Mushroom Bridge backwards. Although backwards tracks would end up being implemented in Mario Kart Arcade GP, they wouldn't appear in the main series until Mario Kart Tour. An early character icon in the demo also indicates that Donkey Kong Jr. was planned to be playable before he was replaced with Diddy Kong.
