• Fake Nationality:
  • The French Emmanuelle Béart as the Austrian-born Marie-Antoinette.
  • French actor Laurent Le Doyen as the Swede Axel de Fersen
• Dawson Casting: Due to the film covering a large part of Marie Antoinette's life, Emmanuelle Béart (then-25) also ends up playing the role at the end of her life at 38.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: The collection Les jupons de la révolution, including this film, hasn't been re-released (let alone restored) since the VHS days, and it's particularly difficult to find French-language versions online.
• Meaningful Release Date: Was made for the 200th anniversary of The French Revolution as part of a Thematic Series called Les jupons de la révolution (Skirts of the Revolution). That series of TV films highlighted female figures of the Revolution era as main protagonists.
