  • Creator Breakdown: Much of the 2000s was this for John Wozniak; he was in a deep depression after he'd lost his girlfriend over an affair (which he called "the biggest mistake of my life") and the songs "Blackbird" and "Down The Drain" were inspired by this. He and his girlfriend eventually reconciled and got married.
  • One-Hit Wonder: "Sex & Candy" boasted a set of lyrics that instantly caught on with the public consciousness (no, seriously, every 90s kid knows the words to "Sex & Candy") and then a string of singles and albums that made almost no headway commercially - simply put, your classic one hit wonder.
  • Shapeshifter's cover art was originally intended as artwork for Butthole Surfers' abandoned album After The Astronaut. The piece was conceived by Butthole Surfers' Paul Leary and executed by artist Mark Ryden; Capitol Records shelved the Butthole Surfers' record, but held onto the rights for the artwork, and evidently offered it to Marcy Playground without indicating it had been previously attached to another project.
