Trivia / Lost Souls (1992)

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: The author doesn't think highly of the book (which was his first novel, written when he was around 19) and resented that its popularity led to him being pigeonholed as a writer of Vampire Fiction.
  • Standalone Episode: Steve and Ghost reappear in "Angels" and "How To Get Ahead in New York," both published in the short story collection Wormwood, and the unpublished "Stay Awake," available only on the author's personal website.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • For almost ten years after the publication of Lost Souls, Brite was enthusiastic about a future novel starring Steve and Ghost and often discussed potential ideas on his personal website. The book never got off the ground, and eventually Brite retired from publishing.
    • No less than Samuel L. Jackson purchased the rights to Lost Souls shortly after it became a bestseller and expressed an interest in adapting it for a movie or television series, but the project never got off the ground.
