- In 1982, McDonald's released a set of five Little Golden Books in their Happy Meals; The Monster at the End of This Book, The Poky Little Puppy, Tom and Jerry's Party, Benji: Fastest Dog in the West, and The Country Mouse and the City Mouse. The Happy Meal box for the promotion could be saved and used as a holder for the books, and part of it could be cut out and used as a bookmark.
- In 1987, Hardee's sold a set of four Little Little Golden Books, which were pocket-sized versions of Little Golden Books, in their Children's Meals. These consisted of Little Red Riding Hood, The Poky Little Puppy, The Three Little Pigs, and The Little Red Hen.
- In 1991, Chick-Fil-A released a set of seven Golden Books in their Kids' Meals. These consisted of Jack and the Beanstalk, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Princess and the Pea, The Owl and the Pussycat, The Nutcracker, Chicken Little, and Rumpelstiltskin.
- In 1996, Chick-Fil-A released another set of Golden Books, this one having eight different stories; The Ugly Duckling, Eloise Wilkin's Mother Goose, Theodore Mouse Goes to Sea, Tootle, Scuffy the Tugboat, Little Cottontail, Four Puppies, and Four Little Kittens.
