- Breakaway Pop Hit: "White Christmas" is probably the foremost example of this trope. Ironically, Irving Berlin had expected "Be Careful, It's My Heart" to be the movie's hit song.
- Method Acting: Fred Astaire was really drunk for the drunken dance: he took two shots before the first take, and a shot in between each. What ended up in the final film is something like the seventh take.
- Prop Recycling: In the opening scene, Fred Astaire wore the same coat he wore in Swing Time's "A Fine Romance" number.
