  • Inspiration for the Work: October 23, 1983's "The Last Battle of Atlanta" steel cage match between Buzz Sawyer and Tommy Rich is said to be the inspiration of Hell in a Cell.
  • Throw It In!: The infamous King of the Ring 1998 HIAC match is probably the biggest instance of this in wrestling history. Mankind falling 16 feet from the top of the cell was scripted, The Undertaker chokeslamming him through the roof and landing hard on the ring was very much not scripted.note  Taker even broke character for a split second, as he said later that he thought he had actually killed him.
    • Also, Taker dropping down from the roof and chokeslamming Terry Funk while the officials were checking in on Mankind was not pre-planned, according to Taker himself, but he knew he couldn't just stand there on top of the cell and do nothing while it was still going on.
  • What Could Have Been: The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton Cell match at Armageddon 2005 was originally booked for the month before at Survivor Series but got pushed back due to the death of Eddie Guerrero and Orton being added the Raw vs. SmackDown Survivor Series match as Guerrero's substitute.
