Trivia / Guacamelee!

  • Unintentional Period Piece: A lot of the background signs reference early 2010s internet memes, when the game was released. Due to being rendered within the games distinct artstyle, however, it's a somewhat less noticeable example than most, and they generally fit the already irreverent tone of the game.
  • Throw It In!: Juan's chicken transformation exists because one of the devs inserted it as a move as a joke during the playtest period. When they transformed Juan into a chicken as they were showing off his attacks, the team loved it so much they decided to keep it.

  • What Could Have Been: There were plans for a third dimension, called the Land of Nightmares, but it was removed at some point during development - probably when they figured that it would be pretty impossible to swap interchangeably between all three on the Vita.
