Trivia / Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist

Go To

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: It wasn't until 2017 when the game became available on GOG.
  • Multi-Disc Work: The floppy version is on six disks.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Freddy wasn't originally supposed to be a pharmacist, but a simple farmer. When pitching the game to Ken and Roberta, Al slipped up his words, mixing the word "farmer" with "rancher" and somehow amalgamated the word "pharmacist".
    • According to Josh Mandel, he proposed the idea of making the game less risque, wishing to break the niche Al had created with the Leisure Suit Larry games and make the game more family friendly. However, Al struck this idea down. This would later become Hilarious in Hindsight when Al developed the family-friendly Torin's Passage two years later.
    • Al Lowe did confirm a sequel was envisioned. This was not the plan originally as Sierra considered the game a failure as its diskette version only sold 150,000 copies after its first year. Those sales prompted the CD-ROM version, which led to a total sales figure of 500,000 copies after three years. By then however, Josh Mandel had moved on to other projects.
