  • Alan Smithee: "exile" and "betty" credit a "William Bowery" as co-writer. There is no record of anyone else being credited with this name as a songwriter. It was widely assumed to be a pseudonym and this assumption turned out to be true, revealed to be Taylor's boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
  • Author's Saving Throw: After years of being criticized for only writing Break Up Songs, Silly Love Songs, or drama about her personal life, folklore is decidedly not about Taylor's personal experiences for the majority of the album.
  • Creator Breakdown: Being written throughout the quarantine of the COVID-19 Pandemic had a definite influence on the extreme darkness in the album compared to Swift's usual body of works.
  • Creator's Favorite: Taylor stated during the announcement of evermore that the main reason of the album's creation is that she just can't stop writing songs because she loves the style of folklore so much. She even notes that this is highly unusual for her, as she moves on pretty quickly with her previous albums:
I’ve never done thisnote  before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.
  • Hitless Hit Album: Is one of the best-selling and most critically acclaimed album of 2020 (#1 on the Year End Album chart and won the Grammy Award for Best Album) despite none of its single charted on the Year-End Hot 100 Billboard chart.
  • The Red Stapler: The album caused a surge for internet search for cottagecore aesthetic and sale of Aran sweaters.
