- Blooper: Due to an engineering error (which also affected the song's parent album), the third chorus in "Suffragette City" features an audible dropout in the left channel on the original release. The distilled Changesbowie compilation would fix this by splicing in audio from an unaffected copy tape, with this amended version becoming standard for all subsequent remasters.
- Bury Your Art: After regaining the rights to his RCA Records backlog, Bowie withdrew all of the label's compilations of his material, this one included, out of disdain towards what he felt was them "milking" his catalog over the years. Both this album and Changestwobowie wouldn't return to print until after Bowie's death in 2016.
- Rarely Performed Song: Both "John, I'm Only Dancing" and "Young Americans" were permanently retired from Bowie's setlists (along with four other songs) following the conclusion of the 1990 Sound + Vision tour.
- Referenced by...: The cover for the 2009 reissue of Morrissey's Southpaw Grammar references Changesonebowie, featuring a similar black and white headshot of Morrisey with the text "SOUTHPAWMORRISSEYGRAMMAR" written above. Similarly to how the Bowie album highlights the "ONE" in its title, "MORRISSEY" is highlighted in red text, with the rest of the logotype being black.
