  • Distanced from Current Events: The cover of Golden State (released in October 2001) was originally supposed to feature the silhouette of an airplane. After the September 11 terrorist attacks, the airplane was removed. For the same reason, the song "Speed Kills" was renamed "The People That We Love".
  • Doing It for the Art: Gavin Rossdale has said that they could have made Razorblade Suitcase sound similar to Sixteen Stone and sold more copies, but they wanted the album to sound more like their live performances, so they worked with Steve Albini.
  • Similarly Named Works:
    • There was also a Canadian band called Bush. In defense of Rossdale and company, the Canadian Bush only put out one album then called it quits without making much of an impact. Because of the other Bush, the British band had to tour in Canada as "Bush X" until they made a donation to a couple of charities.
    • "X-Girlfriend" has nothing to do with No Doubt's "Ex-Girlfriend" - though, coincidentally, the latter is a Celebrity Break-Up Song about Gavin and includes a reference to the Bush song "Dead Meat".
  • What Could Have Been: A few years after Bush broke up, Gavin formed a new band called Institute and recorded a new album, Distort Yourself. Ten years after the album's release, Gavin revealed that Distort Yourself was meant to be a fifth Bush album.
