Trivia / Boys over Flowers

  • Adaptation Overdosed: Though oddly not that much often in its home country, although it has plenty of adaptations and remakes there. East Asia is in love with the series, to the point where many major countries have their own version of it.
  • Ascended Fanon: Rui was originally supposed to be the romantic lead, but Tsukushi ended up paired with Tsukasa when that ended up being the Fan-Preferred Couple.
  • Cash-Cow Franchise: When your series gets at least ten popular adaptations in other countries and is able to stay relevant for years, you know your series is this.
  • Completely Different Title: While the manga is published in Italy under its original title note , the 2004 Italian dub of the anime is titled Mille emozioni tra le pagine del destino per Marie-Yvonne which translates to A Thousand Emotions Between The Pages of Destiny for Marie-Yvonne.
  • Life Imitates Art: The actor and actress that portrayed Domyouji and Makino in the drama adaptation, Jun Matsumoto and Mao Inoue, have similar personalities with their fictional counterparts. Their relationship off-set developed in a curiously parallel route as Domyouji and Makino's — they started of with bad impressions of each other, Jun tried to win back into Mao's favor, Mao was in love with someone else at the time (apparently she had a boyfriend during HYD filming), two years passed and finally Jun won her heart during the filming of HYD:F movie. (They have not admitted their relationship to the public, though there have been couple sightings and matching clothes going on between them.)
    • In interviews they flirt and bicker all the time, which have strong vibes of Domyouji/Makino's dynamics.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: The boy band F4 was forced to change their name to JVKV (after members Jerry, Vaness, Ken and Vic) as Japanese publisher Shueisha who holds the rights to the manga felt that the name may cause confusion in other countries especially when Japan had filmed and aired its own live action versions of the popular manga, with its own cast of four.
