- Acting for Two: Neil Pearson plays both Gerry and Bertie and Margaret's son, who is revealed to have actually been fathered by Gerry.
- Creator Cameo: Co-writer Nick Hancock plays the role of Mike Tonker, while the film's other writer, Chris England, has a smaller role as George Best (no, not that one).
- Dawson Casting: One of the most bizarre examples of this trope ever, with it applying to someone appearing As Himself. Terry Neill, who was the real-life manager of Hull City during the 1973-74 season, appears in the role in this film. However, Neill was 32 years old in that season and still playing in addition to managing the team; when this film was made, Neill was 57 years old.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: The film has never had a home video release of any description, nor has it been repeated since its original 1999 airing. To this date, it is only available in the form of off-air recordings which have been uploaded to video sharing sites.
