Trivia / Blue Man Group

Go To

  • Black Sheep Hit: The Group's two singles from The Complex, "Sing Along" and "The Current," while a good indication of what the album it came from is like, are strikingly different from their usual experimental, "tribal" sound. Both have a noticeable hook and simple chord progression, as well as more pop-friendly production ("Sing Along" is their only song to have a drum loop as its backbeat rather than a drumkit while "The Current" is a straight pop rock song), and include a big-name featured vocalists rather than the more obscure indie vocalists on the rest of the record.
  • Development Hell: In 2011, it was announced that the original performers would be staring a feature film, Blue Man Group: Mind Blast, where the Blue Men would enter the mind of a creatively congested man and help him express himself. That was the last time anyone heard of it.
  • Fan Nickname: Fans occasionally refer to the group's three co-founders (Chris Wink, Matt Goldman, and Phil Stanton) by the collective nickname "ChrisMattPhil".
  • Milestone Celebration: The Group's 25th anniversary saw the release of a third studio album, appropriately titled Three, and a book, Blue Man World, which documents the origin of the act and what it's come to be.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Kent "Snubby J" Jenkins, who built his own PVC instrument after seeing the Group on their How To Be A Megastar tour and became a viral hit on YouTube with videos of himself playing it, was invited to tour the Group's creative studios and jam with some of the performers in 2019.
