• Accidentally-Correct Writing: Know Thy Enemy in the Repercussions anthology includes an inhabited world in the Keid (40 Eridani) system. A small number of super-Earths, like the planet the stated settlers had come from, were discovered orbiting 40 Eridani A the same year the anthology came out.
• Official Fan-Submitted Content: Following the example of Michael Anderle's The Kurtherian Gambit, in February 2018 M.D. Cooper started soliciting stories for a to-be-canonized fan fiction anthology. Repercussions: The Fans Write! ultimately came out December 13 as a 600-page Doorstopper.
• Reality Subtext: The novels feature heavy use of Bio-Augmentation for aesthetic reasons as well as utilitarian ones, and body dysphoria is referenced on several occasions (particularly with the mechs in the Rika's Marauders series). Cooper came out as a transwoman in 2019.
• Science Marches On: Several near-Earth stars that appear in the earlier books have since been discovered to have preexisting planetary systems, including LHS 1565, the setting of A Path in the Darkness—which Cooper specifically picked due to thinking it was unlikely to have full-size planets. In some cases there's a preexisting handwave: terraformers in the series are known to be able to rearrange and recombine planets.
