Tear Jerker / 7FATES: CHAKHO

Go To

In a story about a war where one side wants the complete extermination of humanity, there's bound to be moments of loss, grief and of course, tears.

Due to being a Moments Subpage, ALL SPOILERS ARE TURNED OFF. You Have Been Warned.

  • Zeha's parents both died when he was a child and no one ever told him how, which Hupo later takes advantage of. A flashback shows him walking alone at the high-school entrance after his graduation while other kids receive hugs and flower bouquets from their proud parents.
    • He's the only survivor of the attack on Inwang Mountain.
    • Hupo's manipulation of Zeha, by modifying his memories to make himself appear as an old family friend. Zeha grew up without his parents (or many friends, as implied by some panels and the complete lack of mention of any), and his loneliness was exploited by Hupo for his own ends. When Hupo lifts him up to wound him and discard him, Zeha is unable to move or express emotion due to mind control, but tears are falling down his face.
  • Zeha struggles to fight a single Beom in Episode 3, then gets robbed and beaten down by the Tiger Butterfly. He's left horribly frustrated at his own weakness until Haru intervenes.
  • Dogeon's friends/siblings (who were his found family) died in their last attempt to rob an armored car. His sister Gahyeon dies in his arms while he fails do do anything about it.
  • In Episode 13: The mention of Narae, minor but pivotal character who turned against the Beom to defend the humans. It shows how some Beom have actual remorse for their actions (or consider humans to not be all bad), but are convinced into thinking that humans are unforgivable monsters. Even worse, she's Jooan's girfriend, the one that Bulti killed!
  • Hwan's sister gets kidnapped by Bulti at the introduction of his character arc. Hwan spends several chapters on his own desperately trying to find her, until he finds the place. After trying to get people to believe him to no avail, he manages to find and go to Zeha and his friends for help, while looking completely worn down to the point Cein mistakes him for a ghost. And in the end... It turns out she's dead— or at least implied to be dead at the end of Chapter 16.
  • Hosu spends a ton of time in prison being tortured and prepared as food. While he gets better on a physical sense, his outburst at Zeha shows just how much trauma he suffered at the hands of Bulti.
  • Zeha blaming himself for so many people being killed because he was responsible for breaking the seal. Thankfully, his team members assure him that it was really Hupo's fault.
  • While starting out lighthearted, the conversation at the ice cream place in Episode 26 results in Jooan asking Dogeon about how the latter can smile so easily despite losing his friends. Dogeon honestly replies that he thinks of his friends all the time, but he knows they would have wanted him to live a good life, because he would have wanted the same for them if their roles were reversed. Jooan quietly wonders if Narae would hate him for living his life without her.
  • In episode 28, it becomes clear not only that Heoseo was a close friend of Narae, but that he has no idea that she's dead. He's genuinely happy to meet the kid Narae had befriended, the one Narae was excited to be with once the seal broke. It's that kid, Jooan, who has to break the news that Narae died. Heoseo's reaction is complete shock, and he asks Jooan while trembling if Jooan killed her, only to be shocked further in to momentary speechlessness when he learns that Bulti did it. After asking Jooan where Bulti is, Heoseo (who in the previous chapter had been very verbose and hammy) simply says "I'm sorry" and leaves.
    • There's also how, despite knowing that Bulti hated the Gom more than anyone, Heoseo had never imagined that Bulti would kill one of his own. This really puts Bulti's (and Maro's) actions in disobeying Hupo's orders to kill painlessly, as well as their callousness towards the Beom under their command, into an even darker light.
  • The reveal of what actually happened between Tabae and Hupo. Tabae was never intentionally behind the war. He naively kept a small monster as a pet, dealing with its need to feed on blood by offering his own. This creature, who he named Snowflake, used Tabae's blood to change into his form, impersonate him, and lead the Gom into war against the Beom. Snowflake (who we now know as Hwanwoong) tied Tabae to the Sindansu and made him invisible, leaving him helpless as he watched an impostor calling for the slaying of Beom. Tabae died alone at the hands of Hwanwoong, with no one else in the know, his final wish being for his soul to protect Sinsi and for him and Hupo to meet in the next life. And now, even after millennia, Hupo and his people are convinced that Tabae was a traitor.
  • The inside of the Beom's World of Shadows. Weaker Beom (including elderly and children) have been living here for millennia can't leave without losing their ancient powers, so they remain in an Eldritch Location that's falling apart.
  • Despite Bulti's deeds, the end of Episode 40 is tragic. After finding out about Hwanwoong's true identity, he's left fatally wounded. Maro (usually The Stoic), is desperate to heal him; Heoseo knocks Maro out so they can leave, for which Bulti is thankful. Knowing it's over for him, Bulti tells Heoseo what he knows and is left lying in the cold waiting for the end. As some Tiger Butterfly hunters notice him and go to finish him off, Bulti realizes that his anger was misdirected the whole time, and wonders with tears in his eyes if it's too late to apologize to Narae and Zahu.
