Our little Peco has earned her Happy Ending.

Game

  • Any time that the game reminds us that Yuuki is an amnesiac and does not have any recollections of his past can come across as this.
    • For instance during one of his interactions with Misato, Yuuki asks where babies come from. Although she is able to answer him as truthfully as possible, this conversation causes Misato to realize that Yuuki doesn't know or remember that he has parents. This leads to a heartwarming moment though, as she hugs him dearly.
  • In the final battle, the Big Bad is about to kill Pecorine until Yuuki leaps right in front of her and takes the blow instead. Everyone is completely devastated all the while they desperately try to save Yuuki.
    • Not long after, Yuuki had to either choose to go back and continue a hopeless fight or go back in time and find another solution to defeat Kaiser Insight but at the cost of everyone losing their memories. The anime showcases the latter with Yuuki crying in defeat.
  • Kokkoro suffers a curse that makes people forget about her. Her friends try to remove the curse but this only worsens the situation as they themselves suffer retribution from the attempt. Not wanting her friends to be harmed, Kokkoro packs her things and regretfully leaves the group.
    • When everyone finds her missing, they desperately try to search for her but to no avail since almost everyone else has forgotten Kokkoro. The remaining members of the guild desperately tries to hold on to memories of Kokkoro but even they slowly lose them. The following day has the group go on with their lives but feel that something is missing in their life and feel hollow.
    • Special mention goes to Pecorine. Since Pecorine herself experienced being forgotten by everyone she knows and loves, she's the one most determined to find her. Heartbreaking doesn't begin to describe it as Pecorine cries as she loses her memories of Kokkoro slowly.
  • It is heavily implied that in the real world, Karyl's mother controls every aspect of her daughter's life i.e. where she lives, where she goes to school and how she works. From statements she makes during her encounters with Yuuki, it is suggested that Karyl has very little time to enjoy hobbies or any of the other things a child her age should enjoy because her mother won't let her. The fact that Ameth (an A.I.) was shocked and concerned about Karyl's behaviour shows just how bad her situation is.
  • Shiori from Elizabeth Park is a genuinely kind girl with a weak immune system. As a result of this, she gets sick very frequently, both in the game and in the real world. As such she is unable to enjoy many of the things a person her age should be enjoying, like going to school or places she wants.
  • Miyako from Diablos is an actual ghost girl, meaning that she is dead in both the game and the real world. Whilst Miyako herself is not particularly concerned about this, since she can't even remember being human or how she died, it is nevertheless upsetting to know that she died so young.

Anime

  • Pecorine was not the only person who cried during the final episode of Season 1. When her past is finally revealed, we learn that she is actually Princess Eustiana, the heir to the throne. She left home on a mission one day and when she came back sometime later, Eustiana found that Mana had stolen her life and that nobody remembered her. Even her own parents didn't recognise her. Their rejection completely devastated her.
  • Season 2, Episode 7. Yuuki takes a hit from one of the Spirits intended for Pecorine. He is fine, but what happens next is really upsetting in retrospect. The spell causes Yuuki to relive a memory from his past in the original timeline. There, he meets the three girls from Twimkle Wish, i.e. his original party, but clearly has absolutely no idea who any of them are.
    • What is worse, the group then set off on a mission, which is heavily implied to be the very one that led them to encounter Kaiser Insight, thus leading to Yuuki's death and forcing Ameth and Labyrista to create this alternate timeline.
  • Please take a solid look at the end of Season 2, Episode 9 & try not to cry at Labyrista being stabbed by Kaiser IN FRONT OF KARYL-CHAN! Her response really sends that pain & a lot more while Labyrista wishes that Yuuki's guild will stay like this forever.
