Tear Jerker / 8 Mile

• Rabbit having to tend to his mother after she shows up drunk on the porch. What does she do when he attempts to take care of her? Blames him for her breakup with Greg and whines about never being able to find "love" again, showing she prioritizes drinking and superficial relationships over her own children and their security. Rabbit retaliates by furiously pointing out her sheer selfishness and stupidity over the matter, which results in him being kicked out and choosing to take Lily with him.
  Stephanie: Who's gonna want me now? Who's gonna want me, where are we gonna live?! We don't have any money! We don't have anything! What am I gonna do? WHAT AM I GONNA DO!!
  Rabbit: What are YOU gonna do?! Lily's out there by herself right now! Why do you gotta be like this?! What did we ever do to you?!
• Rabbit discovering that Alex is a cheat. Given her former praise of and willingness to get along with him, it's not a pretty thought for Rabbit as he's left to wonder how much it all really meant.
• The scene in which Rabbit gets beat up by Tha Free World wouldn't be as devastating if his baby sister Lily wasn't watching and screaming at them to stop. Or the fact that he just takes it, making no effort to fight back due to being outnumbered and overpowered by his aggressors.
  • It's worth mentioning that this when he's officially been betrayed by Wink, as he reveals where Rabbit lives despite promising not to and joins in on ganging up on him. His support network is doing nothing other than falling apart by this point in the movie, which does nothing to help his already weak resolve.
