Creators showing their work in comic strips.

  • After realizing how inaccurately he had portrayed them in early strips, Calvin and Hobbes cartoonist Bill Watterson decided to read books on dinosaurs in order to portray them more accurately to contemporary paleontology.
  • Garry Trudeau did this in Doonesbury, using Toggle's story to show exactly how wounded soldiers are cared for. He even tried to get permission to travel on an Air Evac.
  • FoxTrot is full of this regarding Computer Programming and Video Game/Nerd references. It's to be expected, as Bill Amend was a physics major and a genuine nerd.
  • Pearls Before Swine makes several references to animal characteristics.
  • Prince Valiant went back and forth on this. King Arthur is often shown in plate armor (which didn't exist at the time period), but many other elements of the time period, from geography, politics, and day-to-day life are very accurate.
