  • The series theme song was based on the theme song for DuckTales as Matthew was a huge fan of the 2017 reboot. Theme song composer Henning "Sebokaa" Normann even acknowledged this by temporary renaming the remastered version of the theme as "like the ducktales theme but it isn't".
  • As the Cartoon Network series Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends is one of creator Matthew Littlemore's favorite shows, several aspects of the show such as designs and episodes influenced CartoonMania:
    • Some of the 320 character designs (e.g. Victor Virus, Stanley) were influenced from some of the incidental designs in Fosters.
    • The beginning portion of the short "Copyright" was taken from the scene in "Who Let the Dogs In?" where Eduardo's puppy was licking the feet of several imaginary friends in the dining hall.
    • The short "I'm All Ears" was based on the scene in "Land of the Flea" where Eduardo had to avoid scratching his fur despite crossing with imaginary friends whom are sceatching themselves in his path, to the point where the ending was completely derivate from the scene where Eduardo runs away and screams in agony.
    • The Matthew running scene in the short "Unprotected" was based on the scene in "Better Off Ed" where Eduardo was looking for Scrappy.
    • The scene in the short "Xmas Marks the Spot" where Matthew, under a Santa Claus disguise, was being chased by the 320 characters (whom they think is an imposter Santa) is based on the scene in "The Big Cheese" where the imaginary friends chased after Cheese whom knew the code to get into the house. The scene was copied from the front angle chase sequence to the point where the characters run back holding a captured Matthew in their hands.
  • The short "Audition" was based on the audition scene from the 2016 Universal/Illumination film Sing.
  • The scene where Tommy Stick Figure gets offended at Wacky Quacky's joke in the short "They Don't Call Him Wacky Quacky For Nothing" is taken from the Joe Pesci joke scene in the movie GoodFellas, to the point where Wacky briefly turned to Pesci and said the exact same line. This fits perfectly because not only are the Stick Figure's named after the central characters in the film, but they even dressed as said characters in the short "Handle with Scare".
    • The movie was referenced again the short "Get Your Shinebox" referencing Joe Pesci's character (whom the CM character Tommy is named after) getting offended when he's told to get his shinebox, in which the CM character was also offensive and aggressive being told the same thing.
  • Wacky Quacky's laugh after pranking Matthew in the short "Prank" is very reminiscent of Harvey Kneeslapper's laugh during the "Sticky Four" segment from Sesame Street.
  • On the short "Xmas Marks the Spot", Matthew's code to get into the broom closet is 9131993. This is actually a reference to the premiere date of Animaniacs. (September 13, 1993)
  • The episode "Acknowledgement" was inspired by the OK KO! Let's Be Heroes episode "Crossover Nexus" in which statues of well-known webtoons and online artists are used.
