Hilbert Inn

Basic Information

  • This is a Casual thread so violence is not generally expected. While there is no force field to prevent violence, you can be sure that the hotel staff will quell any violence. Characters will be held responsible for any major damage they do to the hotel or environs. Scuffs and mud are fine; knocking down a wall will incur the wrath of hotel management.
  • You don't have to wait for Non-Player Characters for such mundane things as checking in, ordering food etc.
  • Assume that Translator Microbes or some such automatic translation of languages are in effect.
  • Rooms and other accommodation are always available; you can always find suitable accommodation at the price you would expect to pay and all currencies are accepted.
  • Food and beverages to suit all tastes and dietary requirements are available for around the same price you'd pay at home for comparable quality.

Locations

Please feel free to put in links to posts containing initial descriptions of locations.

It would be handy if the descriptions herein were up-to-date indications of the state of the locations...

    The Hilbert Inn
The inn has a large, open area, four stories in all. The top three floors form a "horseshoe" shape, with stairs at either end. At the back of the inn is an elevator that was installed in a later renovation of the building.

The first (or "ground") floor has a dining area on the right and a more traditional bar on the left. The bar has a pool table, darts, etc. There are several TVs and radios scattered about set to various programming.

On the second (or "first") floor, there is a live band on the left side opposite the dining area below. The right side has some rooms for various activities, like karaoke.

Dining area

Nobody quite reads the same menu, but there's usually something of interest on it. The staff has a talent for finding just the right food for those with particular dietary needs. For the most part, however, it and its staff, in a quiet, proudly professional way, prefer to stay out of the spotlight. A jukebox lies in the corner, a primitive thing still filled with vinyl records. Yet somehow, nobody has ever failed to find just what they were looking for.

    The Camping Area
Accessible via a driveway that runs from the front of the Inn to the rear.

Powered Sites

  • Berths for trailers and RVs
  • Free-standing power outlets that always seem to have the right connectors.
  • Here and there are rubbish bins, and wooden picnic tables with bench seats.
  • Ungendered ablution blocks containing toilet stalls and showers are available for those whose mobile homes were not fully self-contained. On the outside of each of the ablution blocks are two faucets: one with the image of a drinking vessel, the other with an image of a drinking vessel within an interdictory circle - to signify both potable and non-potable water supplies.

Unpowered Sites

  • A large area of mowed grass, dotted with trees - plenty of room for people to set up their tents wherever they like.
  • Small "outhouses" with two doors - one labelled with a toilet, the other with a shower - are scattered around the area. For all they look like glorified "long-drop" or chemical toilets, they contain proper flush toilets. On the outside of these "outhouses" are faucets for potable and non-potable water.
  • Scattered around the area re wooden picnic tables and concrete-lined fire pits surrounded by rings of wooden benches.
  • Each fire site has a rubbish bin and a waterproof wood box filled with sawn logs.

Waste Management - Dumping Station

  • Accessible from the camping area via a driveway
  • Everything you need to empty the "black" and "grey" water tanks from your RV or motorhome

Wildlife

    Flora and Fauna
When wandering the wilderness, one is liable to encounter any number of creatures and plants. Feel free to record them here.
