  • In Backstreet Dreams, Dean tells Stevie that he always wanted to drive cross-country, but doesn't want to do it alone. Stevie says, "Looking for your Neal Cassady, huh?" Dean doesn't get the reference, so Stevie describes him as a "modern-day cowboy who drives all across the country with his buddy Jack Kerouac." Later she finds that Dean took her recommendation and bought a copy of On the Road.

  • Gravity Falls: An unproduced story revealed in 2021 would have featured Wendy Corduroy being inspired by the book to take a road trip with her friends.
  • In a flashback on The Simpsons, Abe gets a lift to work from Jack Kerouac, who requests that Abe mail in his manuscript for the book, while destroying the rambling, repetitive first draft. When the manuscript gets accidentally destroyed not long after, Abe just mails in the first draft.
