Recap / Two Sentence Horror Stories S1 E8 "Little Monsters"

Go To

I hear my mom yell at me to come for dinner.
As I head out my door, she grabs my arm, saying, "Don't go in the kitchen, baby, that's not me."

May, a young girl moves to a new neighborhood, where local boys Khalil and Marcus claim that there is a demon who kidnaps children. When Marcus gets kidnapped, May and Khalil plan to rescue him by themselves.

Tropes featured in this episode:

  • Adults Are Useless: Adults do not believe the kids' claim of a demon kidnapping them. In fact, they think the kids are causing trouble themselves, calling them "little monsters".
  • Bittersweet Ending: May and Khalil successfully save Marcus and defeat the demon. But the ending scene shows that this is temporary, as the demon resurfaces again in the same neighborhood.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: May becomes friends with Khalil and Marcus as they work together to stop the children-hunting demon.
  • Glamour: The demon is able to impersonate people. Throughout the episode, she impersonates a police officer and Khalil's mother. Her old lady form is also implied to be just another form of hers.
  • Glamour Failure: The demon can impersonate people, but her face turns monstrous whenever she is provoked.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: The demon eats humans after she has done playing with them. However, she does not like adults' flesh, hence why she always kidnaps children.
  • Interchangeable Asian Cultures: The first time they meet, Marcus dismisses May's advice as coming from Confucius, then asks her to teach him how to do kung fu. May is Vietnamese, as she points out, but he does not care.
  • Missing Mom: May's mother died from cancer recently, while Marcus' left him a while ago.
