Tracy Island is yours. Satisfied?

When a "perfect storm" of disasters requires every member of International Rescue to mobilise only Kayo questions the legitimacy of the situation.

Tropes

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: The Hood seizes control of the Thunderbirds and Tracy Island. For about a minute.
  • Armour-Piercing Question: The Hood's chat with Colonel Casey is definitely meant to evoke the idea that even though he may be caught, he's still just one threat in a very large world.
Colonel Casey: No one is going to see you for a long, long time.
The Hood: And that makes the world safe?
  • Baddie Flattery: After winning the battle against him, the Hood says that Kayo has "made [her] dear old uncle very proud".
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Hood gets exactly what he's always wanted, the Thunderbirds and Tracy Island.
  • Big Damn Heroes: As the Hood tries to blow up Mateo Island and make an escape, the Thunderbirds arrive. John smacks the Hood's ship with the space elevator before Thunderbirds 1 and 2 play a game of tug-of-war that tears his ship apart completely.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The episode opens with Kayo attempting to reveal her relation to the Hood using the phrase "I hope this doesn't change how you feel about me". This is reminiscent of a person trying to come out to their family. Except it's revealing the Big Bad who possibly murdered your father is actually your uncle.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The Hood isn't willing to let Kayo die in the blast because she's family. He quickly revokes this "favour" when she reveals they were never on Tracy Island to begin with.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Kayo engages the WASP protocol, something so vital that it was the first thing Jeff taught to Lady Penelope when she joined IR.
  • If I Can't Have You…: The Hood pulls this when Kayo resets the central computer, saying that if he can't have Tracy Island no one can. Thus he attempts to blow up the Island.
  • Internal Reveal: The Tracy brothers find out Kayo is the Hood's niece.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Kayo being interrupted in confessing her relation to the Hood comes back to bite her on the arse when he reveals it himself, planting doubt in the Tracys regarding Kayo.
  • Psychopathic Man Child: The Hood throws an epic tantrum when Kayo reverts control of the Island and Thunderbirds back to the Tracys.
Kayo: Were you also this way when my father wouldn't share his toys with you?
  • Plot Tailored to the Party: Invoked.
    • High winds cause a climber to become stranded on Mount Haushan needing Thunderbird 1's help.
    • A cave collapse requires Thunderbird 2's heavy lifting expertise.
    • A transport shuttle's malfunction needs Thunderbird 3 to pull it back into orbit.
    • A deep sea submersible sinking into a trench off Saipan requires a tow from Thunderbird 4.
    • A satellite requiring repairs needs attention from Thunderbird 5 and Brains to walk John through the process.
    • A motorbike rider attempting to cross the Great Victoria Desert requires Thunderbird S for rescue.
    • With John busy, Grandma takes over monitoring duties.
  • Sixth Ranger Traitor: The Hood tries to make Kayo out to be this.
  • So Proud of You: Grandma says that Jeff would be proud to see the work his children do.
Alan: It's still hard to believe he's gone.
Grandma: Your father may not be in this room, but he'll always be with us, Alan. International Rescue was his gift to the world. Everyone in this room is keeping that gift alive. He would be so proud of each and every one of you.
  • Vagueness Is Coming: The Hood alludes to a threat self-proclaimed to be even greater than himself...
  • Wham Line: Kayo gives a scathing one to the Hood when he believes himself victorious.
Kayo: Your plan to blow up Tracy Island has one small problem, we're not on Tracy Island. Welcome to Mateo Island. Right next door.
