Stepney is enjoying his visit to the Island of Sodor, and offers to help Percy with his goods trains.

After delivering loaded trucks to the harbor, Stepney heads back with some empty ones. He soon has to stop at a signal near a cricket field, which gives them time to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, trouble strikes when the signal drops just as a batter hits a "six" and their only ball lands in a truck without Stepney or his crew realizing it.

Stepney starts off again and the players have to take Caroline, an old car, to chase after him. As Stepney isn't hurrying, Caroline soon comes up behind, but when his driver sees her chasing after them with the desperate cricketers inside, he mistakes them for joyriders and speeds up, much to Caroline's annoyance as she easily overheats when traveling at full speed. At last after a substantial chase down the line and being forced over a hill, Caroline arrives at a station where Stepney is stopped. The players search for their ball in the trucks and finally find it, but Stepney's driver notes Caroline looks exhausted and suggests that she be rolled onto a flatbed so she can rest during the return journey. The cricketers ride back in a brakevan and Stepney and his crew watch the end of the game.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • The Alleged Car: Caroline, who overheats very quickly. She's described in the book as being "ancient."
  • British Accents: George Carlin puts one on for the cricket players, presumably to justify why someone with an American accent is talking about a distinctly British game.
  • Racing the Train: What Stepney's driver thinks Caroline with the cricketers were doing.
  • Southern Belle: Caroline in the US Narration.
