Season 10, Episode 1
- During a training session at Oceanside, the communities find signs of Whisperer activity, forcing them to debate their next move.
The tenth season premiere.
- Adaptational Early Appearance: Inverted. Dante first debuted after the post-Savior War Time Skip, but his TV series counterpart debuts here well into the Whisperer arc.
- The Aloner: Since the winter, Carol has been taking long sojourns on a boat in the vicinity of Oceanside so she can get away from the communities and so she can not think about the Whisperers.
- Continuity Nod:
- Judith tells R.J. the story of their father’s apparent death in Season 9’s “What Comes After”.
- Aaron angrily remembers Eric's death in the Savior War in Season 8's "Monsters", and Jesus's death in Season 9's "Evolution".
- When Carol complains about Daryl killing a walker she had, Daryl jokes that she should’ve called it, remembering the Claimers in Season 4.
- Death Glare: Carol has one for Alpha, who returns the favor once she spots her.
- Green-Eyed Monster:
- Gabriel is clearly uncomfortable with Eugene and Siddiq’s presence in the upbringing of his girlfriend’s child.
- It’s implied Ezekiel is still jealous of how close Daryl and Carol are.
- Godzilla Threshold: The fire caused by the satellite’s crash threatens Oceanside, forcing the group to cross the Whisperer border to put it out.
- Shell-Shocked Veteran: Siddiq is suffering from PTSD, having been the Sole Survivor of the hostages rounded up by Alpha.
- Ship Tease:
- Jules and Luke are hitting it off.
- Kelly teases Connie about her closeness to Daryl.
- Stepford Smiler: Despite greeting Carol with a smile and complimenting her, Ezekiel clearly misses her terribly and feels awful seeing her give Daryl a warm hug.
- Time Skip: The winter has passed and so has enough time that some of the survivors are wondering whether they should continue obeying Alpha’s boundary since they haven’t heard from the Whisperers since the Fair. Rosita has also given birth to baby Coco and has gotten back in shape.
- Title Drop: One of the latter segments is the namesake of the episode.
- Wham Shot: At the very end, just as Daryl and Carol are leaving the quarry, Alpha returns - and sees Carol on her land.
