Jordan Peele: Mr. Jason Grant. A man looking to make a big difference in a small town. But being the change you wish to see in the world is a lot more complicated when you've got that whole world in your hands. It's all a matter of perspective here... in the Twilight Zone.
A quiet church handyman uncovers a magical scale model imbuing him with the power to help his struggling small town. But with the sleazy Mayor Conley taking all the credit, will Jason's good intentions be corrupted?
- Bittersweet Ending: Jason and John's rivalry has resulted in the destruction of the town, and while there are no casualties, it may take months to rebuild. However the giant golden ring in the end (which likely has to do with Jason putting his late wife's ring on the model) hints that the town will get better very soon.
- Corrupt Politician: Played out with the current mayor of Littleton, John Conley.
- Dying Town: After the death of Trina, Conley approved the enlargement of a nearby interstate, which bypassed the town and resulted in many people leaving.
- Giant Spider: Jason decides to terrorize Conley by putting a tarantula on the model, causing a giant version to appear near the mayor. Before it can eat him, Jason takes the tarantula off the model, making the giant one disappear.
- The Mourning After: The episode takes place a year after Jason's wife, the previous mayor, died in a car accident.
- My God, What Have I Done?: This happens when Jason realizes that he has gone too far with what he did to the model of Littleton.
- "Ray of Hope" Ending: It plays out in the final scene with a giant golden ring influenced from Jason's wife's wedding ring he placed on the model, as it will likely be used to rebuild the town.
- Reality-Changing Miniature: The small model of Littleton, which Jason uses to help improve the town, but also against the corrupt mayor John.
Jordan Peele: We can never calculate what change our actions will bring into the world, despite our best intentions, and whether they will be for good or ill. Yet without action, the stars themselves go cold. Jason Grant wanted to change the world for the better, but the power to do so got the best of him until he lost it all. But today, perhaps losing it all – both for Mr. Grant and for the town of Littleton – was the beginning of something new. Lonely hands find each other in the shadows, both in our imperfect world and in... the Twilight Zone.
