A good king who lost his wife finds a new one to be a mother to his children, however this new mother turns out to be a wicked witch who turns the king's three sons into ravens. The king's daughter escapes and in a dream figures out how to break the curse; she must take a vow of silence for three years, three months, three weeks, and three days to break the spell on her brothers. Time passes and things go smoothly, with the princess even finding a prince to marry... But then it turns out the prince has a stepmother who is the very same witch who ruined her life.


This episode provides examples of:

  • Big Damn Heroes: Just before the princess is about to be burned, her brothers come in and attack the witch. The witch drops the torch she was holding and it ends up burning her, making her go up in a puff of smoke and saving the princess.
  • Fatal Flaw: The witch's cruelty. She is determined to ensure that those who threaten her aren't just gone, but utterly miserable. She curses the brothers to be ravens and makes the princess's life Hell as she tries to get her convicted as a witch. This cruelty is what undoes her. When the princess is going to be burned as a witch, the witch herself decides to carry the torch to rub salt in the wound. As satisfying as it might be for her, this also puts the witch in the perfect position to be killed if she drops the torch on herself... Which the brothers she cursed are happy to take advantage of.
  • Gold Digger: The witch marries kings purely to get their wealth and be in a position of power. Once that king dies, she quickly leaves to find another to marry.
  • Good Parents: The king falls in love with the witch, but can eventually catches on there is something suspicious about her and gives her children a secret place to be away from her.
  • Oh, Crap!: The princess has this face when she realizes the witch is the stepmother of her new husband. The witch returns this look, knowing full well the princess can expose her when she gets the chance.
  • Out-Gambitted: The witch's plan to ruin the princess's life almost works, she seemingly kills all of her children and then gets to burn her as the stake. However, the witch did not take into the brothers who have been watching over their sister the whole time; They made sure each child survived and waited for the right moment to intervene, attacking the witch and making her drop the torch on herself by accident.
  • Wicked Stepmother: The witch becomes this for two different families. She will make the children of her current husband miserable and curse them if they dare try to reveal her wicked nature.
